This company is spearheading a significant initiative aimed at empowering smallholder women farmers in five Indian states: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Bihar. The programme seeks to enhance agricultural productivity, improve market access, and promote sustainable farming practices, ultimately elevating the livelihoods of these farmers.

The company also focuses on leveraging its expertise in maize waste-to-ethanol production to enhance resource efficiency and sustainability within the programme.

OUR APPROACH 

Sattva’s Strategic Approach: 

  • Assisted in developing a strategic initiative centered on empowering women farmers, focusing on enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainable practices across five states (UP, MP, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Bihar).
  • Identified key implementation partners such as Pradan, Access, ASA to drive programme execution.
  • Structured the program’s budget by aligning it with geographic needs, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support 69 FPOs across 27 districts, impacting nearly 38,000 farmers, 80% of whom are women.

OUTCOMES and IMPACT

  • The initiative currently impacts nearly 38,000 farmers, with a goal to reach 50,000 by the end of 2024, with 80% of participants being women.
  • The three primary goals of this initiative for the next three years (until 2027) are:
    • To Implement a framework to increase women’s representation on FPO boards from 30% to 75%, promoting inclusive decision-making in agriculture.
    • Selected FPOs to achieve an average turnovers of ₹3 crores within three years
    • Significantly increasing income per farmer share.
