Karnataka CSR Summit

Sattva Consulting and Dhwani Foundation (a non-profit focused on capacity building for NGOs) jointly organised the “Karnataka CSR Summit” in Bangalore on 7th February 2020.

Context:
Karnataka is home to about 5% of the country’s population and 6% of the total number of companies incorporated. How are the CSR investments of INR 5000 Crore (and growing) by 1300 companies over the last 4 years transforming the development landscape of the state?

How can the funders, implementers and the Government forge powerful partnerships to reach the areas that need it the most?

Highlights:
The data on CSR in Karnataka shown above indicates that Bangalore Urban and Bangalore Rural have been the main recipients of all CSR funding. It is important therefore to focus on the need to go beyond Bengaluru and build stronger partnerships with Government-CSR-NGOs for impact at the grassroots level. At the Summit we had 150+ attendees from CSR, government and non-profits (including organisations such as Morgan Stanley, Wipro Foundation, Infosys, KPMG, Volvo Group, Quest Alliance, among others) engaged in discussions at the event. Our keynote speakers were Ms. Rohini Nilekani (renowned philanthropist) and Ms. Vandita Sharma (Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Govt. of Karnataka). Our eminent panelists represented JSW, IBM, APPI, Search, Cognizant, StateStreet, Orbit, Chilume Society, Cisco, BIAL, Sa-Mudra and NITI Aayog. The panels covered the following:

– Effective Impact at Grassroots level – going beyond Bengaluru
– NGO Capacity building
– Effective partnerships between CSR, Government and NGOs

You can access the Karnataka CSR presentation from the Summit, here.

It was great to see receptive media at the Summit too. Here is some coverage that the event received:

Deccan Herald
Economic Times
Prajavani
The Times of India

We will also be sharing insights on our social media handles. So do watch out for those.
