Upasana Mukherjee

Head - Sustainability and Business Advisory

Upasana Mukherjee brings over a decade of experience across sustainability and legal advisory in India and Asia-Pacific. 

As the Head of the Sustainability & Business Advisory team at Sattva, she leads and manages the organisation’s work with Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), impact-focussed funds and portfolio companies across different facets of sustainability.

Before joining Sattva, Upasana was a Senior Consultant at Deloitte, Asia-Pacific supporting The United Nations entities in their projects and helping businesses incorporate sustainability in their strategy. She has delivered projects across Malaysia, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea. She has led the development of a human rights’ risk assessment and disclosure solution for private sector supply chains and co-conducted a webinar on human rights and business with the British Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar along with speakers from the UN (OHCHR). During her stint as a legal correspondent for Hindustan Times, Upasana was part of the team that won the “Laadli” award for gender sensitivity for a feature titled “Enough is Enough” (Co- sponsored by UNFPA). Prior to that she pursued a career in law working with various law firms across the country.

Upasana is an India-qualified lawyer & holds an MBA with a major in Strategy & Innovation from Nanyang Business School, NTU, Singapore. She holds a certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) on Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR).

At Sattva she gets a platform to work across the spectrum of sustainability at a global scale. Upasana aspires to build new systems and channels to embed sustainability within the folds of business.
