Increased digitization, adoption of blockchain and IoT technologies, development of cold-chain infrastructure, and emergence of third- and fourth-party logistics are some of the major changes in the logistics sector. These changes call for a skilled workforce to manage operations at all tiers.

The demand for skilled manpower in the logistics sector has witnessed a surge in recent times, owing to government and industry-led initiatives. Skilling workforce for this sector could provide gainful employment to over 25 million Indians in the coming decade, in addition to reducing costs and inefficiencies in logistics.This article explores the existing scenario in logistics skilling, and explores emerging areas for stakeholders to intervene.
